Full Moon!

I thought Tuesday night's moon was cool until I learned that tonight is the last full moon before the summer solstice. I drove around and sat in my car from 9:00 to 9:45pm before finally heading home with no pictures. Well, that's not true...I did get a picture, just not a moon picture:

For some reason the moon rose significantly later than I expected and I did finally grab a few shots from our house later on. However, by the time I could see it from here it was quite a ways up in the sky and with my 200mm lens I was not quite able to capture it like I wanted to. Nonetheless, it was still fun to watch and attempt to photograph! :) I had a little more time to play with my camera tonight so my pictures came out a bit better than last night....

Fun on the Swings!

Today my sister-in-law came over with her two boys. We ventured down to the playground and the kids all had a great time on the swings!

(Sorry it's so small - you can click on it to get a better view.)

On a completely unrelated note, check out the moon from last night!

Baby M, Part 2

After today's photo shoot, I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am with my new camera! Sure, it's not THE MOST EXPENSIVE camera out there, but it sure takes some darn good photos!

I had my first photo shoot with Baby M a few weeks ago. Her mom and I vowed to do another one since I got absolutely NO smiles from her that day. Well, it turns out I didn't get many this time around, but at least I got more than zero. :)

It was about 2 o'clock when we did these photos. I realize that's not exactly (ok, not even close to) the best time for outdoor shooting, but it was the only time we were able to meet. The lighting turned out to be a bit of a challenge, but I think it worked out.

She seemed a bit uncertain about the swing...

Oh look, a half grin!

I think we can maybe call this one a full-fledged smile...

While we were having fun in the grass, Baby M's brother was having
a blast on the playground! I snagged a few pictures of him too!

I just love the colors in this last one. Hopefully he doesn't mind his rear end
being plastered all over the internet!
He was so proud when he got to the top of this spiraly thing!

My Poor Baby!

We went out with my husband's whole family tonight to celebrate Father's Day! The night was going pretty well until my 9-month old daughter managed to dip her fingers into a steaming hot bowl of cheese dip. (It was the fault of the server but a total accident, of course!) Poor baby! She screamed and screamed and then finally fell asleep. We put some ointment on it and when she woke up she seemed totally fine. But she's got some good sized blisters on her little baby fingers to show for it....

By the way, this was taken with my brand spanking new Nikon D40 camera, which arrived via the man in brown shorts on Friday! YIPPIIEEEEEE!! I would have taken a picture of it ("it" being the camera - not the UPS guy) to post here but as of right now all the AA batteries are dead for our P&S camera...as usual. Perhaps I'll get a picture up one of these days....

Baby K

Whew! It's definitely the season of babies!

On Sunday, I had the privilege of meeting a highly anticipated baby! My friends Aaron and Kristi finally had their precious baby girl! (Congrats, guys!) Baby K was three tiny days old when I did her pictures. And although she mostly cried through the whole photo shoot, we did get a few decent shots. Here are a couple of my favorites:

You can see that she's not too happy here, but I still think it's adorable!

We tried her on the floor, but she was not so keen on that idea. Aaron suggested that we just lay her on his chest for those shots. It was perfect!

I typically don't like the "angel wings" photos, but I absolutely loved this shot
with the butterfly wings! This one was also taken on daddy's chest.

And where would we be without a screaming baby picture? :)
I seriously need to find a basket this size that doesn't have a handle....

Baby W

When Baby W was born, he wound up in the NICU for a week after delivery with some complications. Needless to say, we didn't get to the newborn pictures right away. He is now six weeks old and we just did "newborn" pictures. After shooting Baby B last weekend, I could not BELIEVE the difference 5 weeks makes in a newborn! I just don't remember those things!

Anyway, Baby W had a full stomach when I arrived and was very cooperative for the pictures (although he did spit up on my backdrop a few times, but no biggie!) Here are some of my favorites:

Look at those big blue eyes!

Mom and Dad were great models too!

This one is my favorite. As a new photographer, I find myself constantly planning all of the "perfect" poses. But it never fails that when I shoot something completely impromptu, that one winds up being my favorite!
