Baby C | Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

I was beyond excited for this afternoon's photo shoot. I just looovvve newborns and couldn't wait to try out a few new ideas. Baby C is now 4 weeks old and I admit I was just a little nervous about that. In general, I prefer newborns to come into the studio before Day 10 of their life for posing purposes. They are so squishy and sleepy at that age. But, aside from one shot that I really wanted to get, this little guy was pretty cooperative...once we got him to sleep. :)

Baby C is so hilarious. His sweet little baby cry sounds identical to a pterodactyl. You know, the flying dinosaur? Actually, I think it's pretty interesting that we happen to "know" this is what a pterodactyl sounds like, seeing as they were around far before any sort of recording devices. But I digress.

Enjoy a preview of the pictures! And Gretchen, thanks again for bringing him over. You'd think I wouldn't need a "baby fix" at this time in my life, but perhaps everyone needs a baby fix every once in a while. :)

(For the record, I do have other blankets. But really, why mess with a good thing?) :)

Excellent! What a cutie. How do you get a baby arranged in those poses without waking him?

also, got a question for the pro:

i'm looking to get a new lense for my nikon d80. i currently have a generic 28-80 lense, but it's broken where it attaches to the camera and i really need to replace it (though it technically still works).

i'd love to spend less than $120. since most of my photography is people (read: our family), i was also thinking i'd like something that could zoom closer. got any recommendations? is it possible to get a good lense for that price?

thanks :)

ha! i took a 10-hour trip at 28 weeks and didn't tell my midwife. she wasn't too impressed when i got back told her about it at my next appointment. in fact, she told me i could only drive 4-hours at the most from here on out. though, i'm sure we're getting close to the point she wouldn't let me go anywhere :)

also -- i couldn't publish your previous comments because you used our last name...silly girl. post again if you want to be entered in the contest. and, thanks for the lens advice!
