Press Printed Books

I think it's very important for my clients to know what options they have available to them when they choose to hire me as a photographer. I want them to be aware of all the tiny details so they are comfortable with the process and know what to expect. After I receive an initial email from a potential client, I always try to reply with details about how and where I shoot, what my prices are for their specific needs, and what products I offer in addition to standard prints.

One of the products I offer to my clients is a press printed book. It's very similar to an album, but is significantly less expensive to order. I find that, while most people would LOVE to have a true album with thick pages and an embossed cover, oftentimes a press printed book is a much better fit for them financially.

The books come in a variety of sizes, ranging from 5x5 to 12x12 and all have hinged, lay-flat pages. Cover options include your choice of black, brown, or red leather OR a custom photo cover.

So, enough talk! You want to see pictures, right? Well, let's get started on that....

Here are a few pictures of a recent wedding book:

These clients chose a custom photo cover.

See how the pages lay flat?

I always offer to customize the first page of the book with names, dates, etc.

And I always place a small watermark on the last page so clients remember where to find me later!

Since the pages are coated, they tend to be difficult to photograph well, so instead of showing you actual page spreads from this album, I want to show you some image spreads from an engagement book that I completed this week. Weddings albums are a bit more complex, but in general, I prefer to keep the books to one image per page for the best ability to view each photo's details. (There are NOT white spaces in the middle of each spread - this is just so you can see the distinction of pages.)

I hope these images have given you a good idea of what my press printed books look like. They are very sleek and, on average, arrive in a matter of 2 weeks or less! So consider a press book for your next session!

Ryan and Sara | Indianapolis Portrait Photographer

I am warning you in advance: this post is very long.

All of my clients are wonderful, but every so often you get a perfect day with perfect weather and perfect everything. Yesterday was one of those days. Well, okay...so the weather wasn't actually perfect to begin with. Our session started out with about an hour of chatting at Starbucks while the rain poured down outside. But I was SO glad we waited it out because the after-effect was BEAUTIFUL. The sky was perfectly diffused with the after-rain clouds and we even got the occasional peek of sunshine. It was warm enough but not too warm. Sunny enough but not too sunny. As I said...perfect.

Sara, I know I've semi-known you for quite a while but it was great getting to know you better and having a chance to hear your oh-so-romantic engagement story. ;) Ryan, you've picked a great girl! I'm glad you two decided to wait out the rain with me. I hope you love these pictures!

This was one of our first shots of the day. It's very possibly my favorite.

Why yes, these ARE 3-D glasses. Don't mock - you know you want some.

They were totally awesome - scaling buildings and standing in the middle of the street for me.

wm e DSC_0056

Of course, I did my fair share of standing in the middle of the street too.

What can I say? I have a weakness for signs.

I spotted this alley as we ran through the rain to Starbucks and knew I had to incorporate it at some time:

On our search for some really cool mural walls I had seen when I arrived downtown, we happened upon this huge delivery door. Score!

We finally found them!

And last but certainly not least, the beautiful ring:

Ryan and Sara, I had a truly spectacular time with you! I wish you the best as you plan for your upcoming wedding!

Bryan and Amber | Indianapolis Portrait Photographer

I first met Bryan and Amber at Kasey and Kristen's wedding last October. I noted that Bryan was always on time and that Amber wanted a winter wedding. So when it came time to meet for lunch this past Saturday, I mentioned to my husband that "we better be early" because Bryan is always on time.

Over lunch at TGI Friday's, we talked about how they met, the house they were considering buying, and all sorts of other things. Then we made our way into the frozen tundra (it was in the low 30s and WINDY). Amber was an extremely good sport. Please note her sleeveless dress and bare legs - BRR! But we had a great time.

Bryan and Amber, I really enjoyed getting to know you better this weekend am so happy you chose me as your engagement photographer! I hope you enjoy these photos....

Matt and Hannah: Engagement

While I was visiting my parents in Wisconsin last week, I managed to snag some time with my good friend Hannah and her fiance Matt for a few engagement photos. Well okay, not just a few. A lot. :)

I knew they had already had engagement photos taken but I asked them if they would pretty please allow me to use them for my portfolio since I currently only have one engaged couple in there. They happily complied and I was very grateful. Here are some of my favorites:

They were so natural in front of the camera. I love how they interacted with each other and somewhat ignored me - it was perfect!

When I took this photo, I didn't realize how perfectly the trees were lit in the background.
Thank you, evening sun!

Matt and Hannah, thanks so much for allowing me to spend some time with you! I love seeing you two together and I know that the Lord will greatly bless for marriage for seeking Him with your whole hearts! I can't wait for your wedding!

Kasey and Kristen

Yesterday I had the privilege of shooting Kacey and Kristen's engagement photos. They are the sweetest couple! Totally adorable and completely in love! I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun I had with them! (Hope you two had a good time too!)

It was almost impossible to choose my favorites out of the nearly 50 images, but I'll do my best....

If I absolutely HAD to choose a favorite, it would probably be this one:

How fun are these two?!

The rock.

We found this brick wall downtown Greenwood. It was perfect!

Okay, before I leave you, I am DYING to show you this bag. Cutest thing ever!

I totally think they should use this picture for a sales ad, don't you?

Kacey and Kristen, I loved every minute I spent with you and cannot wait for your wedding day to arrive!

....and sorry about the key incident. Again. (For those of you who are lost....don't ask.)

:)
